Russia records 8,164 daily cases of coronavirus, 379 related deaths - coronavirus response HQ

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded another 8,164 new coronavirus infection cases over the past 24 hours, and 379 people earlier diagnosed with coronavirus have died in the past day, the federal coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia has recorded 8,164 new confirmed coronavirus cases (Covid-19) in 83 regions over the past 24 hours, including 1,026 (12.6%) cases identified proactively without any clinical symptoms manifested," the headquarters said.

As many as 379 deaths associated with coronavirus have been confirmed in Russia over the past 24 hours, it said.

As usual, Moscow has seen the largest number of Covid-19 cases, 1,996, among all Russian regions, with 56 related deaths and 1,583 recoveries.

Following Moscow in terms of the number of daily cases are St. Petersburg with 687 and the Moscow region with 562 new cases of coronavirus.

The cumulative number of new coronavirus infection cases recorded in Russia since March 2, 2020 has reached 4,718,854. Over the entire period of the pandemic, 106,307 people diagnosed with Covid-19 have died nationwide. As many as 4,343,229 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals in this period, including 9,631 over the past 24 hours alone.

Specialists have carried out more than 126.2 million tests for Covid-19 in Russia during the pandemic, including some 184,000 tests over the past 24 hours, according to Russian public health and consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor. As many as 512,739 people remain under medical supervision nationwide.
