Russia registers 8,944 new cases of Covid-19, 398 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,944 new cases of Covid-19 and 398 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 8,944 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,110 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (12.4%)," the headquarters said.

In the past 24 hours, 10,225 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 398 patients died from Covid-19 across Russia.

According to the headquarters, Moscow saw 2,455 new cases of Covid-19, 59 deaths and 1,944 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Moscow reports the biggest number of coronavirus infections among Russian regions, while morbidity is the lowest in the Magadan region and Tuva (two cases in each) and the Jewish Autonomous District (one). There were zero cases in the Nenets Autonomous District and the Chukotka Autonomous District.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic in Russia on March 2, 2020, it has registered a total of 4,675,153 cases of Covid-19, including 104,398 deaths and 4,301,448 recoveries, including 9,662 in the past 24 hours.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia had performed more than 124.7 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 305,000 over the past day. As many as 507,962 people remain under medical observation.
