Russia, India discussing prospects of greater production of Russian military hardware in India - Lavrov

NEW DELHI. April 6 (Interfax) - Russia and India have reaffirmed their commitment to the development of military-technical cooperation, despite the threat of U.S. sanctions, and are discussing the prospects for broadening the production of Russian military hardware in India, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

"We haven't discussed the U.S. moves today. We reaffirmed our commitment to the development of military-technical cooperation," Lavrov said at a press conference following talks in New Delhi, in response to a question whether the threat of U.S. sanctions might hinder the development of military-technical cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi.

Russia and India "are discussing the prospects of additional production of Russian military hardware in Indian territory within the framework of the Make in India concept and the Independent India concept," he said.

"In this respect, I haven't seen any hesitance from our friends and partners," Lavrov said.
