Russia records 8,328 new Covid-19 cases, 389 related deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 6 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded another 8,328 new coronavirus infection cases over the past 24 hours, and 389 people earlier diagnosed with coronavirus have died in the past day, the federal coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"Russia has recorded 8,328 new confirmed coronavirus cases (Covid-19) in all 85 regions over the past 24 hours, including 1,008 (12.1%) cases identified proactively without any clinical symptoms manifested," the headquarters said.

As many as 389 deaths associated with coronavirus have been confirmed in Russia over the past 24 hours, and 8,902 patients earlier diagnosed with Covid-19 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, the headquarters said.

Moscow has recorded 1,747 new Covid-19 cases, 54 related deaths, and 1,193 recoveries over the past 24 hours, it said.

Moscow remains the leader among Russia's territorial entities in terms of daily cases. The regions that have seen the least daily cases are the Jewish Autonomous Region, the Republic of Altai, the Chukotka Autonomous District (two each), the Nenets Autonomous District, and Tyva (one each).

The cumulative number of new coronavirus infection cases recorded in Russia since March 2, 2020 has reached 4,597,868. Over the entire period of the pandemic, 101,106 people diagnosed with Covid-19 have died nationwide. As many as 4,220,035 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals.

Specialists have carried out more than 122.1 million tests for Covid-19 in Russia during the pandemic, including some 194,000 tests over the past 24 hours alone, according to Russian health and consumer rights watchdog Rospotrebnadzor. As many as 491,986 people remain under medical supervision nationwide.
