Russia records 8,646 new Covid-19 cases, 343 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. April 5 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 8,646 new cases of Covid-19 and 343 related deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 8,646 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 83 regions of Russia, including 1,125 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (13.0%)," the headquarters said.

Over the past day, 343 patients died of Covid-19 across Russia, and 7,052 were discharged from hospitals upon recovery.

According to the headquarters, Moscow has seen 1,876 new cases of Covid-19, 50 deaths, and 815 recoveries in the past 24 hours.

Moscow has been reporting the most coronavirus infection cases in Russia since the beginning of the pandemic. The least coronavirus infections detected in the past 24 hours were reported by the Republic of Altai (three) and the Jewish Autonomous District, the Magadan region, and Tuva (two each). There were zero cases in the Nenets Autonomous District and the Chukotka Autonomous District.

In all, Russia has registered a total of 4,589,540 cases of Covid-19, including 100,7171 deaths and 4,211,133 recoveries.

Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 121.9 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests to date, including 249,000 over the past day. As many as 492,299 people remain under medical observation.
