Finland is ready to host Putin-Biden meeting - FM

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - If it is necessary, Finland is ready to host a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said.

"We are always ready to diplomatically offer good offices from Finland," Haavisto said in an interview with Interfax and other Russian media outlets ahead of his visit to Russia.

Helsinki hosted not only a meeting between Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2018, but also Russian-U.S. consultations on strategic stability that promoted the extension of the New START treaty.

"Of course, if needed, Finland is always available for good offices. Of course, we know that there are other alternatives but Helsinki is always a good place to meet," Haavisto said.

The Russian-U.S. summit took place in Helsinki on July 16, 2018.

Haavisto will pay a working visit to Russia on February 15.
