Russia ready to break off relations with EU - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Russia is ready to break off relations with the European Union, but it does not want to be isolated from international life, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We assume that we're ready," Lavrov said on the Soloviev Life program, a clip of which was released on the interviewer's Telegram channel.

This is how Lavrov answered a question whether Russia is on its way to breaking up with the EU.

"If we see yet again, just like we have felt before on multiple occasions, that sanctions are imposed in certain areas and create risks to our economy, including in the most sensitive areas, then yes. We don't want to be isolated from international life, but we should be prepared for that," Lavrov said.

"If you want peace, you should prepare for war," he said.
