Shoigu announces plans to procure more long-range hypersonic, precision-guided weapons for Russian Armed Forces
REUTOV, Moscow region. Feb 5 (Interfax) - The possibility of additional deliveries of long-range hypersonic and precision-guided weapons to the Russian Armed Forces were discussed a meeting chaired by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
"The development long-range precision-guided weapons and their supply to the Armed Forces is in the spotlight of the Russian president. We will have to brief the head of state in April on what has been done to this end," Shoigu said at the meeting held at the NPO Mashinostroyenia Military-Industrial Corporation in the town of Reutov, outside Moscow.
"In response to the calculations made by the General Staff together with the Industry and Trade Ministry, work has been organized to coordinate the additional procurement of long-range hypersonic and precision-guided weapons," the minister said.
"Today, we will discuss proposals regarding sources of financing, as well as the state of the industry's production facilities ahead of embarking on this task," Shoigu said.
The meeting then continued behind closed doors.
