FBK lawyer Sobol charged with incitement to breaching epidemiological rules at Jan 23 demonstration
MOSCOW. Feb 4 (Interfax) - The Russian Investigative Committee has charged Lyubov Sobol, a lawyer with the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK, designated as a foreign agent in Russia), in the case of a breach of sanitary and epidemiological regulations at the unsanctioned demonstration in Moscow on January 23.
"Lyubov has been charged with incitement to breaching sanitary and epidemiological regulations, entailing the threat of mass infection (Part 4 of Article 33 - Part 1 of Article 236 of the Russian Criminal Code)," lawyer Vladimir Voronin told Interfax on Thursday.
As reported on Wednesday, investigators have brought similar charges against Oleg Navalny, the brother of opposition activist Alexei Navalny, Pussy Riot member Maria Alyokhina, and coordinator of Navalny's Moscow staff Oleg Stepanov.
The criminal case derives from an unsanctioned protest in support of Navalny which took place in Moscow on January 23.
