VTB to launch three new partnerships in open ecosystem in 2021
MOSCOW. Feb 3 (Interfax) - VTB plans to launch three new partnerships within the open ecosystem being developed by the state bank, the lender said in a presentation for a press conference held by its deputy management board chairman Anatoly Pechatnikov.
Last year the banking market discussed the transformation of leading Russian bank Sber and the failed deal between Yandex and Tinkoff Bank, Pechatnikov said.
"Seeing these challenges on the market, we could not help but think about how to respond to them and how we will structure our own future strategic development taking into account the opportunities that exist on the market, and the threats. We spent a fairly long time on discussions and concluded that we will move ahead according to a partnership model," Pechatnikov said.
VTB is prepared to offer banking services on the platforms of partners, he said, citing the examples of Russian Post and retailer Magnit .
The bank has identified six key industries for development: technology companies, classified services, e-commerce and retail, telecommunications, the entertainment industry and the transportation sector.
"We're only talking about digital partnerships. We are not seriously considering options for offline partnerships at this point," Pechatnikov said.
"Our main goal is additional clients and commission income, which we will share with partners, from using the banking services that we provide," he said.
