First 100,000 doses of Chumakov Center's coronavirus vaccine to be deployed in March

MOSCOW. Feb 2 (Interfax) - The first 100,000 doses of the CoviVac coronavirus vaccine will be deployed as early as in March, Chumakov Center Deputy General Director for Project Activity and Innovations Konstantin Chernov said.

"Once the compliance of these batches with the declared technological conditions is confirmed, I believe that the first batch, 100,000 doses, will be deployed in March," Chernov said on the Doktor television channel on Tuesday.

As reported earlier, the registration of the Chumakov Center's CoviVac vaccine by the Russian Health Ministry is expected on February 16.

According to Chernov, it will take about a month to verify the quality of initial vaccine batches after the vaccine is registered in February.

For now, the CoviVac vaccine can be produced exclusively at the Chumakov Center's facilities, Chernov said, adding that those facilities could manufacture up to 10 million doses of the CoviVac vaccine per year.
