Social networks actively deleting calls for teens' participation in unsanctioned rallies - Roskomnadzor

MOSCOW. Jan 28 (Interfax) - Both Russian and foreign social networks are actively deleting calls for the participation of minors in unsanctioned demonstrations in the wake of relevant demands from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, the press service of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology, and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) said on Thursday.

"Given the appearance of new calls for participation in unsanctioned events, the administrations of social networks were notified of the need to delete prohibited information. Foreign and Russian social networks are actively deleting information consistent with the new demands from the Prosecutor General's Office," Roskomnadzor said.

"The timely removal of such information by social networks consistent with the demands has significantly reduced the number of underage demonstrators and has helped prevent casualties among them," it said.

"Roskomnadzor is continuing to interact with web platforms in order to stop the involvement of minors in unlawful mass events, which, in particular, pose risks amid the coronavirus pandemic," the press service said.
