Yandex launches sales of its smart speaker in Israel
MOSCOW. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Yandex has launched sales of its Yandex.Station smart speaker outside the Commonwealth of Independent States, with the devices currently being sold in Israel, the Russian internet company said.
Yandex had previously started selling its smart devices in Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan.
According to the company, Yandex.Station's built-in Alisa voice assistant will continue to speak Russian. Consequently, Russian-speaking users remain the target audience, and Israel has about two million Russian-speaking citizens.
Yandex traditionally does not comment on plans to teach the Alisa voice assistant new languages.
Customers may now order Yandex.Station online in Israel. The Russian internet company has declined to comment on the possibility of expanding sales channels for the device in the country.
