Any status of Nagorno-Karabakh within Azerbaijan impossible, unacceptable - unrecognized NKR's president

YEREVAN. Jan 26 (Interfax) - Nagorno-Karabakh having a status within Azerbaijan is unacceptable, Arayik Harutyunyan, president of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, said on Tuesday.

"The struggle for international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh's [Armenian name for Nagorno-Karabakh] independence will continue. Any status within Azerbaijan is impossible and unacceptable," Harutyunyan said when introducing the new interior minister to the ministry's personnel.

A long and difficult path toward recovery and development lays before Nagorno-Karabakh, the presidential press service of the unrecognized republic quoted Harutyunyan as saying.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on January 20 that Nagorno-Karabakh's status must be discussed within the framework of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Minsk Group.
