Patrushev, Biden's aide discuss New START

MOSCOW. Jan 25 (Interfax) - The secretary of Russia's National Security Council and the United States' national security advisor to the president spoke by telephone to discuss extending the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START), the Council's press service said.

"Nikolai Patrushev and Jacob Sullivan discussed matters relating to the extension of the Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms and the prospects of developing Russian-American security cooperation," the press service said on Monday.

The telephone conversation was held at Washington's initiative, it said.
