Gazprom, Wintershall Dea launch Block 4A of Achimov deposits at Urengoiskoye

MOSCOW. Jan 19 (Interfax) - Gazprom and Germany's Wintershall Dea have begun producing gas at Block 4A of the Achimov deposits at the Urengoiskoye oil and gas condensate field, the Russian gas giant said in a memo for a new Eurobond offering.

"We have put Block 4A of the Achimov deposits of the Urengoiskoye field into production and plan to launch Block 5A no later than in the first quarter of 2021," Gazprom said in the memo dated January 18.

The two blocks are expected to reach the planned production level of 15.5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2027-2030.

These two blocks are being developed by Achim Development LLC, which is 74.99% owned by Gazprom and 25.01% by Wintershall Dea. OMV AG planned to acquire a 24.98% stake in the project, but last March, when all companies tried to cut costs amid the crash caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the Austrian company reached an agreement to extend negotiations on its involvement until the middle of 2022.

Gazprom also said it has completed construction of a condensate stabilization unit at Achimov deposits in the Nadym-Pur-Tazov region and finalizing its pre-commissioning. The unit was built by Russian engineering company NIPI NG Peton LLC at a cost of 50 billion rubles.

"We have finished construction and are now finalizing pre-commissioning work on the Achimov condensate stabilization unit with annual capacity of 4 million tonnes near the Urengoi plant for the preparation of condensate for transport," the company said, adding that the unit will increase Nadym-Pur-Tazov processing capacity to 10 million tonnes per year.

Gazprom is no longer giving estimates for when it will complete its biggest ongoing construction project, the Novo-Urengoi gas chemical complex. Six months ago the company said it might be launched in 2022, but it is no longer saying when the project will be finished.
