Russia registers 23,315 new Covid-19 cases, 436 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Jan 11 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 23,315 new cases of Covid-19 and 436 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Over the past day, 23,315 cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 2,805 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (12.0%)," the headquarters said.

Russia has seen a gradual decline in new Covid-19 cases since the beginning of this year. According to health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor, morbidity is down 12% since the last ten days of December.

Russia has recorded 436 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours.

Growth in coronavirus morbidity remains the highest in Moscow. According to the headquarters, Moscow has recorded 4,646 new Covid-19 cases, 75 deaths, and 6,684 recoveries over the past day.

Following Moscow are St. Petersburg with 3,004 new cases and the Moscow region with 1,315.

Russia has registered a total of 3,425,269 cases of Covid-19 (+0.7%), including 62,273 deaths and 2,800,675 recoveries, among them 21,786 patients who have been discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours.

Rospotrebnadzor said on Monday that Russia has performed more than 93.9 million coronavirus tests to date, including 383,000 over the past day. As many as 625,950 people remain under medical observation.
