Nasiliu.net human rights center listed as foreign-agent NGO
MOSCOW. Dec 29 (Interfax) - The Russian Justice Ministry has listed the Nasiliu.net human rights center, which deals with domestic violence cases, as a foreign-agent NGO.
"On December 29, 2020, in compliance with the current legislation of the Russian Federation, the register of foreign-agent NGOs was augmented with the autonomous non-profit organization Nasiliu.net (No Violence) Abuse Problem Resolution Center," the ministry said on Tuesday.
Founded in 2015, Nasiliu.net helps counter domestic violence and gives assistance to victims.
A statement on the center's website quotes its Director Anna Rivina as saying that Nasiliu.net renders psychological and legal assistance to domestic violence victims and changes "the existent state of affairs, in which domestic violence is the norm not talked about."
"We really think that family means love and support instead of fear and violence. No one can be molded by force and humiliation, and one person cannot make another live by one's rules. Aggressors, not victims, should be ashamed of violence," Rivina said.
The center is headquartered on Moscow's Novinsky Boulevard.
