IMEMO, Interfax to hold expert meeting titled 'Energy Transition and the Post-Covid World' with special guest Deputy Prime Minister Novak

The third expert meeting of the joint project of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) and Interfax titled 'Russia and the World: A Professional Conversation' will take place at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 21.

The meeting's subject: 'Energy Transition and the Post-Covid World.'

The special guest of the meeting is Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

The meeting's moderator is Russia TV Channel VGTRK Deputy General Director, Global Energy Association President Sergey Brilev.


The list of speakers includes:

  • Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Global Energy Prize International Award Committee Chairman Rae Kwon Chung,

  • Dean of the international energy business department of the Gubkin National University of Oil and Gas, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yelena Telegina,

  • Principal Director on Energy Studies at the Institute for Energy and Finance Alexei Gromov.


Topics for discussion include:

  • Changes in production, consumption and lifestyle,

  • What is the speed of the transition and what limits it?

  • Is there need for oil after 2030?

  • Who will be the key player on the energy market after the pandemic?

  • Russia on green agenda,

  • Challenges for Russian oil and gas companies.
