Bomb threat onboard Moscow-New York flight proves false - Aeroflot
MOSCOW. Dec 7 (Interfax) - The alleged bomb threat onboard the Moscow-New York flight had proven false, but the return flight had to be delayed for three hours, Aeroflot press secretary Yulia Spivakova told Interfax on Monday.
"While approaching the destination airport, the captain of Moscow-New York flight SU102 was informed about the possible bomb threat by U.S. ground services. The plane landed normally and was thoroughly examined. The information proved false," Spivakova said.
In her words, the inspection delayed return flight SU103 to Moscow.
"The plane departed to Moscow at 9:10 a.m. MSK (1:10 a.m. EST) and is due to arrive in Sheremetyevo at 5:34," she said.
According to the Sheremetyevo timetable, the return flight is over three hours late.
A number of media outlets said earlier that passengers who had arrived by the Aeroflot flight from Moscow were being inspected by transport police.
The Fox News television channel said that passengers of the plane, which landed at the New York JFK airport had been evacuated. According to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the evacuation resulted from the alleged threat of explosion onboard.
"The airport is fully open and flights are operating without delays. Following an earlier incident at JFK, all emergency activity has concluded and emergency personnel have departed the scene," the JFK airport said on Twitter.
