Russia registers record 28,145 new Covid-19 cases, 29,502 recoveries in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Russia hit a new all-time high of 28,145 new Covid-19 cases and 29,502 recoveries, and 554 patients died in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 28,145 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 5,988 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (21.3%)," the headquarters said.

Russia saw a slight decline in new Covid-19 cases in the beginning of this week; there were 25,345 contagions on Wednesday, 2,800 fewer than on Thursday.

Meanwhile, daily recoveries hit a record of 29,502. The number of new recoveries exceeded the number of new cases by 1,307.

Moscow reported a record number of recovered patients, 6,849, on Thursday, in addition to 7,750 new Covid-19 cases and 73 deaths.

By now, Russia has seen a total of 2,375,546 Covid-19 cases (+1.2%), including 41,607 deaths and 1,859,851 recoveries.

The number of active coronavirus cases (all cases minus all recoveries and all deaths) currently stands at 474,088.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia had performed over 77.6 million coronavirus tests as of this date, including 493,000 over the past day. As many as 518,710 people remain under medical observation.
