Russia reports record 24,318 Covid-19 cases, 461 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 20 (Interfax) - Russia has reported another all-time high of 24,318 new Covid-19 cases, 461 deaths, and 24,758 recoveries in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 24,318 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 5,923 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (24.4%)," the headquarters said.

Russia saw 23,610 new cases on Thursday, and 20,985 on Wednesday. Before that, the number of new infections exceeded 22,000 for a few days.

The number of deaths slightly dropped, from 463 to 461, over the past day.

Moscow saw the all-time high of new cases, 6,902. The spring maximum of 6,703 was observed in early May.

Over the past day, 77 patients died and 5,836 were discharged from hospitals upon recovery in Moscow.

By now, Russia has seen a total of 2,039,926 coronavirus infection cases, including 35,311 deaths and 1,551,414 recoveries.

The number of active coronavirus cases (all cases minus all recoveries and all deaths) currently stands at 453,201.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Friday that Russia had performed over 71.2 million coronavirus tests as of this date, including 596,000 over the past day. As many as 470,831 people remain under medical observation.
