Russia hits another daily high of 23,610 Covid-19 cases, 463 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax) - Russia has reported another all-time high of 23,610 new Covid-19 cases, 463 deaths, and 25,573 recoveries, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

"Over the past day, 23,610 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 85 regions of Russia, including 6,078 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (25.7%)," the headquarters said.

Russia reported 20,985 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.

The number of daily deaths has also been growing, from 456 on November 18 to 463 on November 19.

At the same time, the number of daily recoveries has been on the rise for two consecutive days: 25,179 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday and 25,573 on Thursday. The number of discharged patients exceeded the number of new infections by almost 2,000 over the past day.

The growth remains the steepest in Moscow, which reported 6,438 new cases, 73 deaths, and this fall's biggest number of recoveries, 5,782, on Thursday.

By now, Russia has seen a total of 2,015,608 coronavirus infection cases, including 34,850 deaths and 1,526,656 recoveries.

The number of active coronavirus cases (all cases minus all recoveries and all deaths) currently stands at 454,102.

The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) said on Thursday that Russia had performed over 70.6 million coronavirus tests as of this date, including 577,000 over the past day. As many as 468,746 people remain under medical observation.
