Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine to be tested on volunteers older than 60

MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax) - The Russian Health Ministry will test the coronavirus vaccine developed by the Gamaleya Institute on volunteers older than 60, the ministry press service said.

"The Russian Health Ministry allowed on Tuesday to carry out clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine developed by the Russian Health Ministry's Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. The trials to be held on the premises of the Central Clinical Hospital of the Administrative Directorate of the Russian Presidential Administration will involve 110 volunteers older than 60," the press service said on Tuesday.

The goal of the trials is "to broaden the vaccine's usage in the civilian circulation with senior groups with an increased risk of severe manifestations of Covid-19," the press service said.
