Novatek sees Intesa as coordinator of European financing - bank chairman

YEKATERINBURG. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Russian gas producer Novatek sees Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo group as the coordinator of European financing, the chairman of the group's Russian subsidiary Banca Intesa and president of the Conoscere Eurasia Association, Antonio Fallico told Interfax on Thursday.

"We have wonderful relations with Novatek. They see us not so much as an Italian bank as a bank that coordinates financing for all projects with the participation of other European banks," Fallico told Interfax on the sidelines of a visiting session of the "Russia and Italy: Art of Innovation" Verona Eurasian Economic Forum in Yekaterinburg.

Commenting on participation in project financing for Novatek's Arctic LNG 2, Fallico could not specify the amount of financing. Everything is continuing as planned, the bank is working on schedule and has confirmed all its obligations, but it is difficult to name an exact figure, he said, adding that the figures are in the billions.

It was reported earlier that Banca Intesa will participate in the provision of project financing for Arctic LNG 2. Italy's Saipem was awarded a contract worth 2.2 billion euros for the project.
