Russia sees over 7,000 new coronavirus cases first time since June - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 25 (Interfax) - Russia registered 7,212 new coronavirus cases and 108 coronavirus-related deaths in the past 24 hours, the operative headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Over the past day, 7,212 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 1,856 asymptomatic cases identified proactively (25.7%)," the headquarters said.

The number of new coronavirus cases exceeded 7,000 for the first time since June. The daily cases hit 6,000 late last week. The growth has been the largest in Moscow, which reported 1,560 new cases in the past 24 hours.

According to the headquarters, 1,227 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, and 14 people died of coronavirus in Moscow over the past day.

"By now, Russia has seen a total of 1,136,048 coronavirus cases (+0.6%) in 85 regions, including 20,056 deaths and 934,146 recoveries (among them 4,317 patients discharged in the past 24 hours)," the headquarters said.

According to Rospotrebnadzor, Russia performed over 44.3 million coronavirus tests by Friday morning, including 374,000 over the past day. As many as 222, 601 people remain under medical observation.
