Belarussian opposition activist Znak detained, Kolesnikova's home being searched - Babariko staff
MINSK. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Maxim Znak, a member of the Belarusian opposition's Coordination Council Presidium, has been detained, press secretary of the staff of unregistered Belarusian presidential candidate Viktor Babariko, Gleb Germanchuk, told Interfax.
"In the morning of September 9, Maxim Znak managed to report that people in masks had come to the staff of Viktor Babariko. There has been no contact with Maxim since then. According to lawyer Dmitry Layevsky, the investigation is being carried out by the Investigative Committee within the framework of the criminal case opened against the Coordination Council on counts of 'calls for actions aimed to harm national security of the Republic of Belarus'," Germanchuk said.
The home of Znak will be searched. Meanwhile, the search is underway in the home of another member of the Coordination Council Presidium, Maria Kolesnikova.
