Russian Defense Ministry, Rostec sign contracts for new military hardware worth over 300 bln rubles

KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Defense Ministry and Rostec firms have signed new contracts for the shipment of military hardware worth more than 300 billion rubles, including Sukhoi Su-35 fighter jets, Rostec told Interfax.

"The Russian Defense Ministry and the Rostec state corporation signed a number of agreements for a total amount above 300 billion rubles during the Army 2020 International Military-Technical Forum," Rostec said on Tuesday.

"The Defense Ministry will have advanced aviation products: fighter jets Su-35S, Su-34, and Su-30SM2, combat capable trainer aircraft [Yakovlev] Yak-130, and transport planes [Ilyushin] Il-76MD-90A," Rostec said.

The contracts include shipments of new military hardware and ammunition, upgrades to the current military aircraft fleet, and some new high-tech developments for the Russian Armed Forces, it said.

"Once implemented, the contracts will ensure that the forces are equipped with advanced weaponry, that the performance specifications of weapons already in service are improved, and that the appropriate technical foothold for high-tech developments will be established," Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov was quoted as saying by the company's press service.
