Russia didn't sell weapons to Taliban, has armed only Afghanistan's legitimate govt - Russian Foreign Ministry

MOSCOW. July 2 (Interfax) - Russia has never supplied weapons to the Taliban (banned in Russia as a terrorist organization), but has supplied them only to the legitimate government of Afghanistan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.

"Russia has supplied weapons only to the legitimate government of Afghanistan, which is well known," Zakharova said during an online press briefing on Thursday, in commenting on relevant statements by United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
