Number of Covid-19 cases in Central Asia exceeds 41,300

MOSCOW. June 30 (Interfax) - A total of 1,089 new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in countries of Central Asia in the past 24 hours, bringing the region's total case count to 41,313 as of Tuesday morning, the health authorities of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan said.

The overall number of recoveries has reached 25,380 after another 376 people were discharged from hospitals in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Central Asia's Covid-19 death toll rose by 14 to 321 in the past 24 hours, including five new fatal Covid-19 cases in Kazakhstan, seven in Kyrgyzstan, and two in Uzbekistan.

Medics in Kazakhstan diagnosed another 492 people with Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 21,819 on Tuesday morning, the country's interdepartmental commission on preventing the spread of Covid-19 said.

According to the commission, in the past day Kazakhstan identified another 1,003 asymptomatic coronavirus cases, which are not included in the country's overall coronavirus data. A total of 17,642 patients without any clinical symptoms of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the country since June 3, it said.

Another five coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in Kazakhstan, bringing the country's Covid-19 death toll to 188. A total of 13,008 patients have already recovered from Covid-19 in Kazakhstan (+75 in the past 24 hours).

A total of 279 new Covid-19 cases were identified in the past 24 hours in Kyrgyzstan, which currently has 5,296 confirmed cases of the coronavirus infection, Kyrgyz Deputy Health Minister Madamin Karatayev said at a press briefing on Tuesday.

Seven coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours, raising Kyrgyzstan's Covid-19 death toll to 57, Kratayev said.

A total of 2,370 patients earlier diagnosed with the novel coronavirus have already recovered (+76 in the past day).

"The epidemiological situation in the country remains challenging. There has been a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus and community-acquired pneumonia cases. It is necessary to tighten control over steps to counter coronavirus," Karatayev said.

Medics in Uzbekistan identified 267 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 8,298, the country's Health Ministry said on Tuesday. Another 167 people recovered from the novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours in Uzbekistan, where the overall number of such recoveries has now reached 5,496, the ministry said. Two coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the past day, bringing the country's Covid-19 death toll to 24.

Approximately 64,000 people remain in quarantine. Nineteen patients are in critical condition, and six are in extremely critical condition.

Fifty-one new Covid-19 cases were recorded in Tajikistan in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total case count to 5,900, the press center of the Tajik Health Ministry told Interfax on Monday evening. No new coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in Tajikistan in the past 24 hours. The country's Covid-19 death toll has reached 52 since the onset of the pandemic.

The recovery rate stands at 4,506 (+58 new recoveries in the past day).

According to official reports, there are no confirmed Covid-19 cases in Turkmenistan.
