Vienna to host Russia-U.S. meeting on strategic stability on June 22 - Deputy FM Ryabkov

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has confirmed to Interfax that Russia and the United States will hold an interdepartmental meeting on arms control in Vienna on June 22.

"I confirm that a meeting on the subject of arms control and strategic stability in the format of interdepartmental delegations from both sides will take place in Vienna on June 22," Ryabkov said.

"As far as we understand, Special Presidential Envoy Marshall Billingslea will head the American delegation," he said.

When commenting on whether China could join this meeting, Ryabkov said that Russia "is puzzled that the American side has been persistently mentioning this."

"We have no understanding that the Chinese side will be represented at this meeting," he said.
