State Military Industrial Committee head Golovchenko appointed Belarusian PM

MINSK. June 4 (Interfax) - Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Roman Golovchenko as the new Belarusian prime minister, the state-run news agency BelTA said.

Before that, Golovchenko was serving as the State Military Industrial Committee Chairman.

A conference held by Lukashenko on Wednesday addressed proposals on members of the new Belarusian government. Lukashenko promised not to make any revolutionary changes in the government.

It was reported on Wednesday night that Lukashenko dismissed the government. The appointment of new members was scheduled for Thursday.

The First Man's Pool Telegram channel said that former Prime Minister Sergei Rumas would not be a member of the new Belarusian government.

Lukashenko said on May 25 he planned to form a new government before the presidential election due on August 9, 2020
