Russia awaiting U.S. explanations of its position on Open Skies Treaty - Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. May 21 (Interfax) - Moscow is waiting for Washington's explanations of its decision to withdraw from the Treaty on Open Skies, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.
"Aside from the public polemic, aside from public statements, there is an ordinary normal practice of complying with agreements and treaties, there are mechanisms for their implementation," Zakharova said on the Rossiya-24 (VGTRK) television channel.
"There is the commission one can go to and present their claims," she recalled.
"And there are also diplomatic channels through which we are expecting relevant U.S. explanations so as to form our attitude towards their position," Zakharova said.
"We still work on a premise that explanations should be received. I hope we will receive them tomorrow before we comment in full," she said.
