Russia detects fewer than 10,000 new Covid-19 cases, 93 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - The daily number of new coronavirus cases identified in Russia has dropped below 10,000 for the first time since May 2, according to the coronavirus prevention headquarters.

"Over the past day, 9,974 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 84 regions of Russia, including 4,049 active asymptomatic cases (40.6%)," the headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.

By now, Russia has reported 252,245 coronavirus cases (+4.1%). According to the Johns Hopkins University, Russia ranks second in the global coronavirus table after the United States that has reported 1.39 million coronavirus cases. It is followed by the United Kingdom (230,200), Spain (228,600), and Italy (222,100).

Moscow identified 4,712 new Covid-19 cases over the day, thus increasing the total rate to 130,716.

Ninety-three coronavirus patients died across Russia over the day, including 58 in Moscow. The mortality rate has reached 2,305 by now.

As many as 5,527 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospitals in Russia in the past 24 hours, including 1,821 in Moscow. The recovery rate has reached 53,530.

Back on May 13, Russia reported 10,028 new coronavirus cases, including 4,703 cases detected in Moscow.
