Russia records over 10,000 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - Russia recorded slightly more than 10,000 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of cases to over 242,000, the coronavirus response headquarters said on Wednesday.
"Over the past day, 10,028 confirmed coronavirus cases were reported from 83 regions of Russia, including 4,461 active asymptomatic cases (44.5%)," the statement said.
Moscow confirmed 4,703 new cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total rate to more than 126,000.
By now, Russia has seen a total of 242,271 coronavirus cases (+4.3%) in 85 regions. It currently ranks second in the world's coronavirus table after the United States with its 1.37 million coronavirus cases. Russia is followed by Spain (over 228,000 cases), the UK (over 227,000 cases), and Italy (over 221,000 cases).
Ninety-six patients died over the day, including 53 in Moscow. The death toll stands at 2,212.
As many as 4,491 patients were discharged from hospital over the day, including 1,864 in Moscow. The recovery rate has reached 48,003.
