Russia detects over 11,000 new Covid-19 cases, 88 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - Russia has detected its all-time daily growth in the number of Covid-19 cases, over 11,000, in the past 24 hours.
"Over the past day, Russia detected 11,231 confirmed Covid-19 cases in 84 regions, including 5,471 (48.7%) active asymptomatic cases," the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
The cumulative number of coronavirus cases in Russia has reached 177,160 (+6.8%), the headquarters said. Russia ranks the world's fifth in these terms: it has surpassed Germany (168,100 cases) and France (173,200), according to the information provided by the John Hopkins University. The United States (1,228,600 cases), Spain (220,300 cases), Italy (214,400 cases), and the UK (201,600) are above Russia in the global coronavirus chart.
In terms of the daily growth in the number of Covid-19 cases (11,100), Russia shares the second position in the chart with Brazil (also 11.1000), and the United States tops the list (24,200).
Moscow identified 6,703 new cases over the past day, bringing the total number to 92,676, the headquarters said.
In the past 24 hours, 88 coronavirus patients died, including 39 in Moscow. The death toll reached 1,625 by now.
Over the past day, 2,476 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery, including 769 in Moscow. The total recovery rate reached 23,803 by now.
