Russia reports 6,411 new Covid-19 cases, 72 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ
MOSCOW. April 28 (Interfax) - Russia has recorded more than 6,400 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the nationwide tally to 93,558, the coronavirus response headquarters said.
"A total of 6,411 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus infection have been confirmed in 83 regions of Russia in the past 24 hours, including contacts and patients without clinical symptoms standing at 2,609 (40.7%)," the headquarters said on Tuesday.
Thus, Russia currently has 93,558 coronavirus cases (+7.4%) in 85 regions, it said. It means that Russia has overtaken Iran in the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases. According to the latest statistics issued by Johns Hopkins University, Iran has 91,472 confirmed Covid-19 cases. It was reported earlier that on Monday Russia also overtook China (83,918 cases today) in the number of confirmed coronavirus cases.
A total of 3,075 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in Moscow, which currently has 48,426 coronavirus cases, the headquarters said.
Seventy-two people earlier diagnosed with Covid-19 have died in Russia in the past 24 hours, including 44 in Moscow. Russia's coronavirus death toll currently stands at 867. The overall number of coronavirus-related deaths in the country's regions has been adjusted. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova's office told reporters that the country's coronavirus death toll for April 27 was revised from 794 to 795.
A total of 1,110 people have been discharged from hospitals upon recovery in the past 24 hours, including 606 in Moscow. The overall number of recoveries stands at 8,456.
