Putin signs law establishing Sept 3 as date of WWII end
MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law, which establishes September 3 as the date of the WWII end.
The law was published in the official database of legal information on Friday.
The amendments were made to the Law "On Days of Military Glory and Memorable Dates in Russia." Article 1 of the law was augmented with a paragraph, which reads, "September 3 is the date of the end of WWII (1945)."
The amendments were adopted by the State Duma and approved by the Federation Council.
Consistent with the amendments, the earlier memorable date of "September 2" is excluded from the current legislation.
