Kremlin relying on court's blocking order in Telegram situation - Peskov
MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax) - The Kremlin is relying on the de-jure circumstances, i.e., the court order to block the Telegram messenger service, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We rely on the de-jure situation, we must do so. There is a relevant court order, which has led to blocking efforts," Peskov told the press on Thursday, commenting on a call from a number of State Duma deputies to cancel the blocking order on the messenger service, which is being de-facto used by the authorities to release official information, including information concerning the coronavirus pandemic.
Peskov said he won't comment on the initiative for now. "You're right, the de-facto situation is different, but I'll abstain from commenting just yet," he said.
