Russia records 42 coronavirus deaths in past 24 hours, death toll climbs to 555 - HQ
MOSCOW. April 23 (Interfax) - Forty-two coronavirus patients died in Russia in the past 24 hours, and the death toll rose to 555, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"Forty-two coronavirus deaths were confirmed over the past day, including 27 in Moscow," the statement said.
As many as 471 coronavirus patients recovered in Russia in the past 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to 4,891, the headquarters said.
"Some 471 patients were discharged upon recovery over the past day, including 181 in Moscow," the statement said.
A total of 4,891 coronavirus patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals in Russia by now, it said.
Russia has confirmed 4,774 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of cases to 62,773, the headquarters said.
"In the past 24 hours, 4,774 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus infection have been confirmed in 81 regions of Russia, including contacts and patients without clinical symptoms standing at 2,282 (47.8%). Among the regions, Moscow has 1,959 new [coronavirus] cases," it said.
Thus, the number of Covid-19 cases in Moscow currently stands at 33,940.
Given the latest increase, Russia currently has a total of 62,773 (+8.2%) cases of the coronavirus infection in 85 regions.
