Russia sees 44 coronavirus deaths in past 24 hours, death toll rises to 405 - HQ

MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - Russia recorded 44 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 405, the operative headquarters for the coronavirus response said in a statement on Monday.

"Forty-four coronavirus deaths were recorded over the past day, including 28 in Moscow," the headquarters said.

Russia has seen a total of 405 coronavirus deaths by now, it said.

Russia recorded 155 recoveries of coronavirus patients in the past 24 hours, according to the operative headquarters for the coronavirus response.

"A total of 155 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery over the past day, including 75 in Moscow," it said.

As many as 3,446 coronavirus patients have been discharged from hospitals in Russia by now.

More than 4,200 new Covid-19 cases were registered in Russia in the past 24 hours, including circa 2,000 in Moscow and 578 in the Moscow region, according to the operative headquarters for the coronavirus response.

"In the past 24 hours, 4,268 Covid-19 diagnoses were confirmed in 76 regions of Russia, including 1,935 (45.3%) cases actively identified as contacts without clinical symptoms," the headquarters said.

Moscow identified 2,026 new cases over the day, bringing the total number to 26,350. There were 578 new cases in the Moscow region, 113 in the Nizhny Novgorod region, and 86 in St. Petersburg.

"By now, Russia has recorded a total of 47,121 coronavirus cases (+10.0%) in 85 regions," the headquarters said.
