Russia identifies 771 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, sickness rate tops 3,500 - HQ
MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax) - Russia identified 771 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, and the sickness rate topped 3,500, the operative headquarters for the coronavirus response said in a statement on Thursday.
"As many as 771 Covid-19 cases were confirmed in 29 regions of Russia over the past day," the statement said.
Some 595 new cases were identified in Moscow, 43 in the Moscow region, and 22 in St. Petersburg.
Thirteen cases were recorded in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 11 in the Leningrad region, ten in Dagestan, seven in each of the Kaliningrad region and the Perm Territory, five in each of the Stavropol and Krasnoyarsk territories, the Orenburg and Sverdlovsk regions and Buryatia, and four in each of the Lipetsk, Murmansk, Rostov, and Irkutsk regions.
Three new cases were identified in the Vologda region, two in each of North Ossetia, Bashkortostan, Mary El, Komi, the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, and the Samara, Kaluga and Omsk regions, and one in each of the Altai Territory, Adygea and the Belgorod region.
"As of today, the Russian Federation has recorded 3,548 coronavirus cases in 76 regions," the statement said.
