No explosive growth of Covid-19 in Russia right now - Rospotrebnadzor head
MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - There is no explosive growth of coronavirus infection in Russia, head of the Russian public health and consumer protection watchdog and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Russian Federation Anna Popova said.
"We are seeing a number of countries where the situation is developing under an extremely negative scenario and is characterized by an explosive growth, an exponential growth. The Russian Federation is seeing no explosive growth today. It is several days in a row that we have been hanging on the same growth factor [new Covid-19 cases] of 1.2, and a range of measures are being taken for this," Popova said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Russia has seen 440 newly confirmed Covid-19 cases in 35 different regions, including 267 new cases in Moscow, over the past 24 hours, the operative coronavirus response headquarters said. This compares to 500 new cases, including 387 in Moscow, recorded in this country in the previous 24 hours, according to the March 31 report from the headquarters. In total, Russia registered 2,777 coronavirus infection cases in 75 regions, as of April 1.
