Russia identifies 440 new Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours, sickness rate rises to 2,777 - HQ

MOSCOW. April 1 (Interfax) - A total of 440 new cases of Covid-19 have been identified in Russia in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 2,777, the operative headquarters for coronavirus response said in a statement.

"Russia has seen 440 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in 35 regions over the past day," the statement said.

As of Wednesday, Russia has identified 2,777 cases of Covid-19 in 75 regions, the statement said.

Some 267 of the new Covid-19 cases were confirmed in Moscow over the past day.

There are 32 cases in Komi, 27 in St. Petersburg, 15 in the Moscow region, 11 in the Saratov region, seven each in the Volgograd and Chelyabinsk regions, six each in the Leningrad region, Buryatia, and the Krasnoyarsk Territory, five each in the Tula region and the Krasnodar Territory, four each in the Voronezh, Penza, and Omsk regions, three each in the Kursk and Tambov regions and the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District, and two cases each in the Bryansk and Ivanovo regions, Dagestan, North Ossetia, and Kabardino-Balkaria.

Eleven territories of Russia have one new case each: the Vladimir, Lipetsk, Tver, Novosibirsk, and Sakhalin regions, Chechnya, Bashkortostan, and Mordovia, and the Altai, Primorye, and Khabarovsk territories.

According to the headquarters report for Tuesday, March 31, Russia had 500 new Covid-19 cases (60 cases less on April 1), including 387 new cases in Moscow (120 cases less on April 1).
