Covid-19 sickness rate tops 1,000 in Russia - HQ

MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - Russia has identified 196 new cases of Covid-19 over the past day, bringing the total number of cases to 1,036, the operative headquarters for coronavirus response said in a statement on Friday.

"As many as 196 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in 16 regions of Russia over the past day," the statement said.

Moscow has identified 157 new cases of Covid-19, it said.

Twelve new cases were identified in Crimea, eight in the Moscow region, three in the Volgograd region, two each in Chechnya, Mordovia, Udmurtia, and the Samara region, and one each in the Ivanovo, Oryol, Tula, Yaroslavl, Rostov, and Kirov regions, Dagestan, and Tatarstan.

"Thus far, Russia has recorded 1,036 cases of Covid-19 in 58 regions," the statement said.

Meanwhile, seven patients have been discharged upon recovery over the past day, including three in Moscow, two in the Kirov region, one in Tatarstan, and one in the Moscow region. A total of 45 patients have been discharged thus far, the statement said.
