Number of coronavirus cases in Russia increases by 54, to 253 - HQ
MOSCOW. March 20 (Interfax) - The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Russia has increased by 54, reaching 253, the federal operative coronavirus response headquarters said.
"A total of 54 coronavirus cases among Russian citizens in nine regions were recorded in Russia in the past 24 hours," the headquarters said.
A total of 253 coronavirus cases have been recorded in Russia to date.
According to the headquarters, new cases were detected in Moscow (33), the Sakha Republic (6), four in St. Petersburg and the Samara region each, two in the Kirov and Novosibirsk region each, and one in the Moscow, Ulyanovsk, and Tyumen regions each.
It was established in an epidemiologic inquiry that the patients had visited the countries with a high risk of coronavirus infection in the past two weeks.
"All those hospitalized are in infectious diseases wards. The results of their tests were confirmed within the established procedure," the headquarters said.
The persons they contacted in Russia have been determined, the work to ensure that they are under medical supervision is underway, it said. Their laboratory tests are being conducted.
