Armenian govt declares state of emergency in country for 1 month due to coronavirus

YEREVAN. March 16 (Interfax) - The Armenian government has declared on Monday the state of emergency all over the country for one month due to the spread of coronavirus.

"The state of emergency has been declared throughout the republic from 5:00 p.m. on March 16 to 9:00 a.m. on April 16," Armenian Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan said at an extraordinary session of the government.

The state of emergency has been declared in light of the situation surrounding the spread of coronavirus in the world and Armenia, given that the epidemiological situation in the city of Echmiadzin, Armenia is threatening public health and safety, he said.

A total of 30 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Armenia to date.
