Putin orders forming State Council working group to fight Covid-19 - Kremlin

MOSCOW. March 16 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order to form a working group at the State Council of the Russian Federation to counter the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus, the Kremlin press service said on Sunday.

Under the order, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin is due to head up the new working group, which also includes deputy prime ministers, ministers, and representatives of different ministries and agencies.

The document recommends that "senior officials in the constituents of the Russian Federation (the heads of supreme government agencies in the constituents of the Russian Federation) where the threat of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection caused by 2019-nCov [Covid-19] has been detected take part in the activities of the working group at the State Council of the Russian Federation tasked with countering the spread of the novel coronavirus infection caused by 2019-nCov."

The president's order instructs the government and the Presidential Directorate for Supporting Activities of the State Council of the Russian Federation to provide support for the activities of the abovementioned working group.

The document entered into force upon signature.
