Beijing's third round of govt procurement includes $35.11 mln in TMT spending

Beijing. June 16. INTERFAX-CHINA - The Beijing municipal government announced on June 16 that it has opened its third round of procurement this year and will allocate RMB 360 million ($52.67 million) to 53 projects, of which RMB 240 million ($35.11 million) will be spent on buying goods and services from TMT companies based in the capital.

The tender, which was opened on June 11, puts the Beijing municipal government's total procurement spending in 2009 so far at RMB 6.53 billion ($955.33 million), of which RMB 2.43 billion ($355.51 million) was earmarked for spending on TMT products and services.

If this tender follows the pattern of the previous two, TMT products that have been developed in China will be given preference. The Beijing municipal government has issued three catalogs to be referred to by government buyers that list 451 Chinese-developed high-tech products. A fourth catalog, adding 605 new products, has been drawn up but not yet released.
