Russia, China agree on construction of Tianwan NPP's second unit, fast neutron reactor

MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Russia and China have agreed to start building the second power unit of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant as well as a commercial fast neutron reactor, the two countries said in a joint statement following a meeting of their presidents on Wednesday.

"While viewing the further development of cooperation in the area of nuclear energy as one of the priorities in economic interaction and expressing satisfaction with the successes achieved in this field, the parties will launch construction on the second unit of the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and the commercial fast neutron reactor," the statement says.
